St Cybi’s Church Visit
Following Chris Medley’s presentation on the modernisation of the Grade 1 Listed (1968) St Cybi’s Church we enjoyed an excellent informative talk and tour at the church.
Chris talked us through the history of the medieval church founded on the site of a 6th Century monastery by St Cybi and built within the walls of a ruined Roman Fort. This latest refurbishment has been part funded by the UK Government Levelling Up Fund and has ensured the preservation of this historic church as an important centre for use by the local community.
The Victorian Pews have been removed and replaced with chairs. The organ has been taken out revealing a stained-glass window. Both these important innovations have resulted in a very open, light space. A heat pump provides under floor heating.
With thanks to Chris for his invitation to visit the church and I am sure that we would find yet an other visit very interesting and informative. Aneira Levitt
