The Film Club meets once a month on Friday afternoons to view films from around the world. All are chosen for their merit and the subject matter varies widely. Many have not been shown in local cinemas and most are foreign language films with English sub titles.
Those members who have attended the morning U3A meeting (held in the same hall), usually bring a sandwich lunch and we enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together. Others may arrive just before the film start time which is 1pm.
The aim is to ensure those who have watched a film have an enjoyable cinema experience and take away lasting memories. Discussion is encouraged after each viewing.
We are fortunate to have the use of excellent technical equipment which ensures a quality experience and a large screen.
Members' film recommendations are welcome.
Film Club Update.
I intend to resume film showings in September. The dates and films are listed on the back page of the newsletter. Each film will be in English. As the hall hire charge has increased, it will be essential for the continuation of film club to have a guaranteed income to meet that charge on each date. This will mean members will be asked to pay for all four dates in September. New members are very welcome. I will review the financial situation before the Christmas break.
